I am not one of those who believe—broadly speaking—that women are better than men. We have not wrecked railroads, nor corrupted legislatures, nor done many unholy things that men have done; but then we must remember that we have not had the chance.
— Jane Addams (1860-1935)
In Sweden, women are rulers of the universe. In France, women are dangerous objects to treasure and fear.... But the American woman is told she can do anything and then is knocked down the moment she proves it.
— Paulina Porizkovajune, America Made Me a Feminist, in The New York Times, June 10, 2017
I am not anti-gun. I'm pro-knife. Consider the merits of the knife. In the first place, you have to catch up with someone in order to stab him. A general substitution of knives for guns would promote physical fitness. We'd turn into a whole nation of great runners. Plus, knives don't ricochet. And people are seldom killed while cleaning their knives.
